Gorgeous Greens

Gorgeous Greens by Annie BellThis is Annie Bell’s first book on her best-loved vegetables since Annie Bell’s Vegetable Book, named by Waitrose Food Illustrated as one of the most useful cookery books ever.

In the fourth book to emerge from the successful Gorgeous cookbook series, Annie Bell celebrates all the beautiful, healthy and colourful vegetables available to us today. Though not strictly a vegetarian cookbook, it is the greens that deserve centre stage in this collection of healthy, inspiring recipes.

Filled with delicious recipes such as Roasted Squash and Lentils with Harissa Dressing. Asparagus Tray Tart and Leek and Feta Pizzettas, this collection is divided into helpful sections such as Dips, Gorgeous Grains, Gratins and Roasted Veg. There are small salads for serving on the side, larger ones for diving into at supper, and a whole chapter on the art of the simple but classic green salad, and one also dedicated to our good old favorite, the potato. Some recipes are quick for throwing together after a day at the office, while others are more considered and allow for a relaxed time pottering in the kitchen. Whatever the occasion, Gorgeous Greens will ensure you get your five-a-day and more, in the most pleasurable way possible.

Annie Bell spent several years as a cookery writer for Vogue, then as a food writer on the independent. She is currently principle cookery writer on the Mail on Sunday’s YOU magazine, and is a contributor to Country living magazine.

I love this book! I love vegetables – eating them and growing them, but sometimes you get stuck in a cooking rut! And end up doing the same boring thing. This book has given me fresh, interesting ideas for my veg, which are nutritious and delicious!
